Applied Data Science Capstone is an applied data science project course published by Coursera Academy. This is the final course in the IBM Data Science Professional Certification as well as Applied Data Science with Python specialization. This capstone project course gives you the chance to practice what data scientists do in real life when working with datasets. In this course, you take on the role of a data scientist working for a startup that is trying to compete with SpaceX, and in the process, you follow a data science methodology including data collection, data wrangling, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, model development, model evaluation, and report your results to stakeholders. You are tasked with predicting whether the first stage of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will land successfully. With the help of your Data Science findings and models, the competing startup you are hired by can make more informed bids against SpaceX for the rocket launch. There will be no new learning in this course, instead you will focus on practical work to demonstrate and apply what you have learned in previous courses. By successfully completing this Capstone, you will add a project to your data science and machine learning portfolio to show to employers.
