Introduction to Scripting in Python Specialization. This specialization is designed to teach beginners the basics of scripting in Python. Leveraging the knowledge of Rice University’s leading computer science and data mining professors, you’ll be able to hone your programming skills by solving practical problems. Over the course of four courses, you’ll learn key Python 3 programming concepts that will prepare you to perform common scripting tasks with Python. This knowledge will provide a solid foundation for entry into fields such as data science, software engineering, and other programming-related disciplines. Practical Projects: Each course concludes with a practical project in which you’ll apply your Python scripting skills. Early projects will focus on core scripting problems such as date processing and finding differences between similar files. As you progress through the specialization, you’ll learn to work with data stored in files and perform sports analysis and data visualization. These projects involve reading historical data about baseball, calculating statistics from this data, and analyzing the results. Finally, this specialization concludes with a project in which you will import economic data from the World Bank, process it, and visualize this data on a global map.
