Description
Character Animation Bootcamp is a character animation bootcamp course published by School of Motion. If you’ve ever tried to animate a character in After Effects, you know how difficult it can be. In this course, you’ll learn the key techniques for character animation in After Effects. From simple movements to complex scenes, you’ll be confident in your character animation skills by the end of this course. We’ll start by creating strong silhouettes and poses, which are the foundation of good character animation. Then you’ll move on to your first big animation challenge: setting up key poses for the jump. Adding these key poses will allow you to easily create a jump animation. Now we get to the fun part: start animating the jump by “Tweening,” or adding frames in between, which After Effects will do for you automatically.
You’ll have plenty of practice in the Graph Editor changing the timing and spacing of those keyframes to make the jump look realistic. As if it had weight and mass. Then move on to your next challenge and apply those key poses to a walking cycle. It’s time to polish this walking cycle and learn how to plant a character’s feet on the ground. Next, you’ll learn the basics of throwing a ball. This challenging pose requires a good understanding of how a character’s body moves when completing a move. Put all your skills to the test by simulating a full scene with a character. This is a great opportunity to start putting all the different moves you’ve learned together into a full performance.
What you will learn
- Momentum and reference
- Breaking a scene
